Drone Flight Day

We are on the Lofoten Islands for almost a week now and have already experienced a lot, including all weather conditions one can imagine.

But on this day we were luckier than ever before. Already in the morning, when we woke up, I noticed that there was almost zero wind. In addition, the still largely dark sky did not look completely cloudy. So I already charged all the drone batteries and as soon as dusk began, off we went.

First we drove to our neighboring village Sakrisøy, where there is a small viewing hill with a wonderful view over the village and the harbor. The whole sky was already dipped in the most beautiful shades of pink and orange, although it still took quite a while before the sun actually came over the horizon. We enjoyed the view and my drone took off for the first flight of the day.

Next, we headed back to Reine, where we first stopped another time at the Reinehalsen parking. There we had already seen the sun for the first time the day before. This time there were also a few other photographers there, including a guy from Germany, with whom we had a short talk. My drone was not the only one up in the air here. So far I always had the feeling that we were the only tourists, but after the bad weather had calmed down, we saw at least some other people, mostly photographers.

When we came back to Reine, the prominent mountain of the place, Mt. Olstinden, was nicely illuminated by the sun, in addition, one could recognize the reflection in the water for the first time due to the little wind.

Now it was just about noon and I had already emptied all of my four drone batteries. So we stopped briefly at our accommodation for a small lunch break and to recharge the batteries. This day was so beautiful that we just had to enjoy it and who knows if it would be so windless again.

In the afternoon we went again to my favorite drone spot, the two bridges at Fredvang. On the way there we also stopped again briefly, because it is just beautiful everywhere here.

This time I was able to fly a little higher at the two bridges to get an even better perspective. In addition, the light was simply indescribably beautiful on this day.

It was already getting dark, but we still had another destination on the agenda, the beach of Myrland. On the way there we passed a large bay, where we could already observe sea eagles several times. This time one even landed on the side of the road just a few meters from our car. Unfortunately I was not fast enough with my camera settings, before he flew away again. Nevertheless, I got out of the car briefly and explored the area by foot. Another pair of white-tailed eagles was sitting down by the water, a few hundred meters away. At least I managed to take one photo.

Wir werden auf alle Fälle in den nächsten Tagen nochmal hierher zurückkehren und unser Glück versuchen , ein schönes Seeadler-Foto zu bekommen.

Arrived in Myrland, a small sandy beach, it was already almost dark.

Nevertheless Sandra didn't miss the opportunity for a short swim in the sea. The water here has at the moment about 5-6 degrees and ice bathing was actually also on my agenda. Somehow my motivation on this day to change from a thick winter jacket, gloves and hat to a bikini was rather low. Let's see what the rest of the vacation will bring ...

Exhausted, but simply happy, we returned to our accommodation that evening. It was also the last evening there and so we had to pack our suitcases already.

  1. Hallo Ines,
Einfach wunderbar!
